Not very still waters... (13 November 2010)
The wild birds are eating me out of house and home. The squirrels are helping, little bastards. The landlords say they’ve never seen so many birds around the place. Everyone is enamoured by the three different woodpecker families. The bullfinch is less popular since his favourite spot to welcome the day is their windowsill.
I find myself horribly addicted to Spider Solitaire on my computer. This is all the more depressing because the wretched thing keeps score and I’ve lost 75% of all “games”. It’s not clear if I’m particularly crap or not. I think I need a real pack of cards.
I’m getting on with the new-but-temporary headshrinker. He’s made some really useful points and helped me see some stuff in a slightly different way. He’s also validated my own insights, opinions and recent decisions – well, some of them, anyway – and seems to be going out of his way to be helpful and constructive.
Every lesbian/gay film I have watched recently has involved suicide, depression, prison. “Mad, bad, or dead”, that’s us. Gah.
Until last night, there was a wasps’ next in my roof. After last summer’s discovery that I am definitely allergic to the little buggers, I am grateful for my landlord’s policy of Direct Action. Even if he does wear *those* shorts.
I got my wish and did not Dream last night. Mainly because I couldn’t sleep. Am still picking up bits of glass from the 2am coffee jar incident.
My ride with the cycling club went well at the weekend. I’ve got a free three month trial membership. Going out again this weekend, so long as the weather holds. It’s a 45 mile route, plus getting to the meet up point and back. Really don’t fancy that in the pouring rain!
I’ve borked this theme and it refuses to show the next/previous links on the main and archive pages. Am attempting to fix it. Not going well, thus far.
Tea, anyone?
I give the birdies mixed poultry corn in the feeder, is much cheaper than bird seed.
They barely touch the seed – it’s the fat balls and peanuts they want. I wouldn’t mind so much, but they won’t pose for photos.
congrats on the new but temp headshrink. He is getting you to see things differently….so you are the one doing the work!!! It’s better that way. You’ll get there!!
Glad the headshrink seems to be useful, and I’ve got my fingers crossed for the weather for that bike ride… it’s good that you’ve got trial membership anyway – rain or no rain. But who is it that’s on trial? Them or you?
The ride has been pushed back til Sunday. This is good. They’re predicting thunder and lightning for tomorrow afternoon!
Great pic – the stones at the top look like molten metals. Glad you are getting some helpful help.
Enjoy the bike ride, I am not sure I could manage 4.5 miles never mind 45!!
