Have wheels, will cycle

After months of faffing around, I finally got round to buying a bike at the end of January from these extremely helpful and friendly people in Taunton. I probably paid over the odds, but you can’t put a price on that level of service, a prime example being one member of staff smiling and saying hello when we passed each in other in the street a few weeks later.

Anyway, I spent most of my first ride on the bike deeply regretting every penny (it’s about seven and half miles from the shop to my house, with lots of hills between the two doors) but I’ve been out most days since then and my enjoyment and fitness levels have shot through the roof.

Better yet, as you can see from the photo, Snipe also loves the bike, especially now that her fitness and stamina have improved. In fact, today we did seven miles and she’s no more tired than if we had walked that distance. This is excellent news, as my plan is to get her to the point where we can either take it slowly on long rides (10 miles or more) or go like the clappers on shorter ones.

Yup, me likes the bike!

  1. That was after five miles – and after a dip in the stream at the Common (where the photo was taken), she was ready and eager to set off again!

I suppose I shouldn’t be alarmed that you were able to identify the bike from the photo, but I am!

  2. Have you seen my last post? Very similar to yours. Jasper’s eyes light up when he sees us getting the bikes out of the garage!

  3. Yes, that’s what made me realise I haven’t yet blogged about my new-found speed. (Don’t worry, there will be a warning before I post any photos of my cycling jacket. Hi-viz is an understatement :) )

  4. Yup, nice bike. A real “California Girl” now! Hope to get out on mine again soon, legs and various ‘dropping off bits’ allowing……
